Three generations of Karamitros family engaged in cheese-making.

Karamitros A. & Co. based in ancient Dion at the foot of Mount Olympus has been
engaged in the production, processing, packaging and sale of cheese products for
35 years, since 1978.

At Karamitros A. & Co. 100 % Greek sheep and goat's milk is collected on a daily basis, from
selected farms whose livestock graze freely at the foot of Mount Olympus. Modern methods are
used for milk collection in latest technology tanks as prescribed by EU legislation. Milk is then
transported to our modern privately owned cheese-making facilities where it undergoes quality
control by a State certified laboratory to ensure highest product quality. It is then pasteurized and
processing begins to produce different products.

After ripening as required, the products are distributed in the domestic market by trained staff
and a modern fleet of company owned vehicles.

Consistent product quality has gained distinction for our company, not only within Pieria County
boundaries but in the wider domestic market. Our products are available at local supermarkets but
also in large food store chains. Increased demand and the consequent upward sales trend
emphasized the need for a new modern cheese-making plant. This was finally built in accordance
to strict E.U. standards and started its operation in January 2014.

To achieve an authentic product with consistent taste our family business adheres to traditional
production methods, using the secrets we learned from our “Sarakatsani” ancestors, nomadic
shepherds who moved with their livestock back and forth between the lower plains and the
mountain pastures of Olympus.
